Infrastructure & transport

The Fifth Estate has helped business to look for more efficient ways to manage infrastructure and transport provision for their developments, in response to governments shifting their burden to the private sector.

Most of The Fifth Estate’s major project advocacy work involves identifying and solving infrastructure bottlenecks, and structuring public/private solutions.

We have not always accepted the dogma of "user pays", particularly where a major project has brought significant regional benefits to communities. In some cases, we have forged partnerships between the proponent, local government and other industries to secure a public funding contribution to needed infrastructure development.

Successful infrastructure projects require the skills we offer, including:

  • logistics and management strategy,
  • analysis of intermodal transport options,
  • financial structuring,
  • political advocacy, and
  • co-ordination of implementation

We have also worked effectively with governments to develop new policies regarding essential public infrastructure in areas such as construction materials handling, forest products transport and export, energy, water and communications.
