Development aid

Sustainable development is one of the keys to eliminating poverty in the developing world.

The Fifth Estate's combined expertise in facilitating resource development, and understanding the complex political processes that can define success, has assisted development and international aid initiatives.

Areas where these two factors interact include:

  • promoting sustainable business development at the "bottom of the economic pyramid",
  • carbon sequestration in tropical forests,
  • providing advice on business establishment and marketing for aid-generating not-for-profits,
  • advocacy for improved environmental standards and human skill development, and
  • community infrastructure development.

The Fifth Estate acts in both a commercial and pro bono capacity in the development and international aid sphere.

Our Principals are active in organisations such as Business for Millennium Development, which aims to drive economic development in the emerging markets of the Asia Pacific in a way that contributes to poverty alleviation, in East Timor's national reconstruction effort, and in developing trade opportunities in the Asia-Pacific.

Many of The Fifth Estate's clients operate in less-developed countries in our region, and with them we have scoped and facilitated specific projects to help deliver on these goals.
